A more capable and cheaper model, Python as a first-class language on Cloudflare's serverless platform and what to do when AI turns CI into a bottleneck.

Claude Opus 5.5 reaches Fable 5.1's level at 40% less than Opus 5
Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5, the first model in the 5.5 family, which according to the company performs at the level of Claude Fable 5.1 on most work and costs 40% less to run than Opus 5. Tokens cost $4 and $20 per million, and cache reads, which weigh most in agentic work, fell 60%. One tester completed a 680,000-line code migration in less than a day, and the model is less likely to take hard-to-reverse actions.
Large migrations and modernizations, once too costly in engineering hours, come within reach with supervised agents. Companies with legacy systems can revisit stalled projects.

Cloudflare Python Workers are generally available with FastAPI, Django and Flask
Cloudflare announced general availability of Python Workers, making Python a first-class language on its serverless platform. You can run frameworks such as FastAPI, Django and Flask and use platform services such as Workers AI, R2, D1, Durable Objects and Queues without writing JavaScript. Execution uses a Python interpreter compiled to WebAssembly, with Pyodide.
Teams with Python code and skills can move APIs and services to a global serverless platform without changing languages. It is an option to cut server operations for APIs and automations.

Linear reworks its CI after AI turned it into a bottleneck
Linear says agents sped up code production so much that CI became a bottleneck, with high infrastructure costs and developers and agents waiting for feedback. Even with test suites nearly quadrupling during the year, the team cut PR wait time from over 6 minutes to just over 5 and halved runner time per test. Changes include runners with faster CPUs and storage, the native TypeScript compiler, which cut type checking by 73%, and lint rules rewritten to avoid type information.
Adopting coding agents without adjusting tests and pipelines just moves the bottleneck. Reviewing CI, tooling and job order is part of the work for anyone who wants to gain speed with AI.
