Frontier AI inside the cloud companies already use, a big move in JavaScript tooling and durable execution right in the database.

OpenAI models and Codex arrive on Amazon Bedrock

OpenAI's frontier models and Codex are now generally available on AWS, through Amazon Bedrock, in commercial and GovCloud regions. According to OpenAI, this removes one of the biggest barriers to adoption: taking AI to production with the same security, compliance, procurement and billing processes the company already has on AWS. Codex, used by more than 5 million people a week, can write, review, debug and modernize code inside the AWS environment.

Opportunity for your business

For companies already running on AWS, using OpenAI models gets simpler, with the contracts, billing and security controls already in place. AI projects stalled by procurement or compliance can move forward.

VoidZero, the company behind Vite, joins Cloudflare

VoidZero, maker of Vite, Vitest, Rolldown, Oxc and Vite+, has joined Cloudflare with its whole team. Cloudflare commits that the projects stay open source under the MIT license, vendor-agnostic and with a community-driven roadmap, as it did with Astro. Vite is the foundation of frameworks such as Vue, SvelteKit, Nuxt, Astro, Angular and React Router.

Opportunity for your business

The tooling behind a large share of web projects gets long-term investment, without tying anyone to one cloud. For those building web products, Vite remains a safe foundation.

Microsoft open-sources pg_durable, which runs durable workflows inside PostgreSQL

Microsoft open-sourced pg_durable, an extension for defining workflows in SQL that PostgreSQL runs and checkpoints at each step, resuming from the last point after crashes, restarts or failures. The goal is to replace combinations of cron, status tables, queues and workers, or external orchestrators such as Airflow and Temporal. Use cases cited include embedding pipelines with pgvector, data ingestion and external API calls, and the extension already ships in Azure HorizonDB.

Opportunity for your business

Teams that keep their state in Postgres can simplify background jobs and data and AI pipelines, with fewer parts to operate. Consider it for processes that today depend on fragile scheduled scripts.
